Would you like to give your dog a little extra help from above? The parishioners at Trinity Episcopal Church, in St Charles, Missouri held a service to bless and honor their beloved dogs and other pets. Some hoping a little divine intervention might be just the answer to their pet dilemmas.
Trinity members Holly and John Murray brought their one year old puppy, Missy, to the service. It was their first time attending the "Blessing of Animals." Holly said, "Missy has a lot of energy. I was hoping a special prayer would help her settle down a bit." Unfortunately even a higher being couldn?t tame the beast, after the service, little Missy was still running around.
In all about 20 animals, many of the dogs came to be blessed at the event by The Reverend Tamsen Whistler. Dogs that had gone onto the great bone yard in the sky were also honored as part of the event that helps remember St. Francis, the patron saint of animals. Trinity church has been holding this special service for over 10 years now.
The animal loving doesn't end their, the church also collects pet food throughout the month of October to donate to the local animal shelter! Many dogs will be blessed by their generosity. You can find out at www.trinity-stcharles.org or find them on Facebook at Trinity Episcopal Church St. Charles.
