Corgi Puppies Really Know How to Live

Well, good morning, sunshine!

There's not much that gets our "awwww!" reflexes going quite like a puppy slowly waking up. And this video features a kiddie pool full of puppies waking up. We're surprised you can't hear us cooing from here!

These Corgis are definitely living the good life. Sleep until you're no longer tired, wake up at your own pace, eat a little kibble, and play with your siblings. We're pretty sure a few minutes after this video ends, that whole adorable cycle starts all over again.

Dog Band Parodies One Direction Song

The musical masterminds behind The Pet Collective's song parodies have done it again; this time with One Direction's "Kiss You." Although we imagine the kisses in this video are a little bit more slobbery than ones doled out by the boy band, we still love the concept.

Check out Pup Direction's new hit below, and see if you think it stands up to One Direction's original music video.

Justin Timbonelake Looks Great in a Suit and Tie

With his stylish fedora and impeccable tuxedo, Justin Timbonelake looks simply debonair in the music video for his new single “Suit and Tie.”

Our only complaint is that Jay-Z doesn’t make an appearance in the Pet Collective parody, but at least the video still matches the style and tone of the original version of the video.

50 Cent Explains Why He Named His Dog Oprah

50 Cent didn't exactly call Oprah Winfrey a dog when he named his Schnauzer after her, but he definitely implied it.

In a clip from the upcoming episode of Oprah's Next Chapter, the former talk show host confronts rapper 50 Cent about why he named his dog Oprah Winfree. He confesses that at the time, it wasn't a compliment. The two were locked in a very public battle over the use of the n-word in music, with 50 Cent defending it and Oprah decrying it.

But it seems time has healed those wounds. As far as we can tell, the beef between the two is no more. Plus, 50 Cent now has a cat, Gayle, named for Oprah's best friend.

The rapper isn't the first celebrity to name pets after other pop culture icons. Actress Jennifer Garner has a Labrador named Martha Stewart, and Rihanna called her dog Marley after Bob Marley. Reese Witherspoon owns English and French Bulldogs named Frank Sinatra and Coco Chanel. We think Frank Sinatra must be a pretty popular inspiration for pet names, because rapper Snoop Dogg has a Siamese cat named after the "My Way" crooner, as well as a feline named Miles Davis. And Oprah has another canine fan in a Pug belonging to Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, who also named her dog Oprah.

You can catch up with 50 Cent's pup on Twitter at @OprahTheDog. The full Oprah's Next Chapter episode with 50 Cent airs this Sunday at 9/8c on OWN.

One Direction Singer Buys His Family a Puppy

As if the band One Direction hasn't crushed enough hearts already, one of its members just bought his family an adorable new puppy.

The Labrador Retriever pup was a gift from 20-year-old Liam Payne to his family, since the singer can't bring a dog on tour, PeoplePets reports.

Liam's sister, Ruth Payne, tweeted this photo of their new dog over the weekend. She's named Brit, in honor of the Brit Award that the pop group recently took home (the equivalent of the American Grammy Award).

Ruth writes, "Brit has kept me busy for the past 4 days - she's a little cutie but can be a naughty puppy when she wants to be."

Uggie to Get Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame

It's been a while since we've seen Uggie in the headlines, but we knew the famous pup couldn't stay out of limelight too long!

The Artist's canine star will be in Los Angeles on Monday morning to place his paw in the cement at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre. The Hollywood Reporter says the 10 a.m. event is being billed as a retirement party for Uggie, who suffers from a mysterious neurological condition that causes him to shake uncontrollably.

Word has it that the four-legged actor will make his flashy arrival on a fire engine. And Charm City Cakes recently announced that its celebrity chef, Duff Goldman (of Ace of Cakes fame), will create a special fire hydrant confection for the occasion.

With this accomplishment, the Jack Russell Terrier will join an elite club of dogs who boast stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He's only the fourth pooch to press a paw into the fabled cement, following in the footsteps of Lassie, Rin Tin Tin and Strongheart.

For more scoop on Uggie (and other famous animal actors), check out our interviews with the trainers who made them stars.

SPCA's Creative Anti-Puppy Mill Campaign

The San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) launched a highly creative campaign this year to educate the public and raise awareness of the cycle of puppy mills and its impact on society. As part of the second phase of this campaign they released this catchy video by French directors Jean and Nicolas Jullien (aka the Jullienn Brothers) and BBDO San Francisco.

The video may be cute, but it also highlights the dangers of buying puppies from questionable online sources instead of adopting locally from a local shelter or rescue group, or buying from a reputable breeder.

In early May, as part of its guerilla marketing campaign, the organization installed a “puppy bin” in the highly trafficked plaza at the intersection of Sacramento Street and Drumm Street, near the Embarcadero center in downtown San Francisco.

The bin was similar in size to puppy mill cages, looked like a typical newspaper stand and featured sound and video portraying puppies. Inside the bin a fake newspaper, The Canine Tribune, featured articles and stories designed to educate readers about the realities of puppy mills as well as alternative options available to those who want a dog. The campaign has provoked significant reaction from passersby. View the video below to learn more about the campaign and to see some reactions from the public.

Throwback Thursday: Barkley on "Sesame Street"

Barkley, the dog from Sesame Street, has rarely appeared on the show in the 21st century.

There are many memorable characters from Sesame Street, but one of our favorites is Barkley the dog. Barkley first appeared on the Sesame Street scene in Season 9 (1978-1979) with the name Woof-Woof. In the Season 10 premiere, the cast voted to rename him Barkley, but we haven't seen much of this iconic pup lately. According to IMDB Barkley has only shown up in one episode since 1989.

When we first met this adorable furry creature, who resembles an Old English Sheepdog, he belonged to Linda the librarian. Linda was a deaf character and as a result the very smart Barkley understands American Sign Language signs for "sit" and "stay." Although he belonged to Linda he always had a very close relationship with Big Bird and even accompanied him to China and Japan.

We don't know if Barkley will be extinct from Sesame Street, but we hope they bring him back to the TV cast. His last appearance was in the episode Frankly, It's a Habitat in 2009, but it seems he still makes regular appearances in the books.

Here's one of our favorite Barkley classic clips from the show. We miss this precious pooch!

Manny Pacquiao’s Four-Legged Training Buddy

Manny Pacquiao is not only a star boxer; he’s a politician, singer, actor and most importantly, a dog lover.

The fighter, who is a national treasure in his native Philippines, is known for surrounding himself with supporters. A lot of them. It's been said that he has "most ridiculous entourage in sport's history," including a towel guy who dries off Pacquiao's legs after he exercises and a friend who chooses which flavor of Gatorade he'll drink. But the most important member of this extensive team may be the boxer's Jack Russell Terrier named Pacman, which also happens to be the boxer’s nickname in the ring.

Little Pacman helps his owner train for matches by joining Pacquiao on morning runs and even provides extra resistance when the boxer does sit-ups and push-ups, reports The Wall Street Journal.

Which Celebrity Pet Had the Best Week?

Keira Knightley attends the premiere of Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.

Each Saturday, we'll comb the week's celebrity pet news and declare which animal had the best week in the media. Feel free to shout out suggestions on our Facebook page!

We wouldn't dare challenge Keira Knightley for her screen time, but one audacious actor did just that.

Aleister, a 5-year-old terrier mix, is the canine star of Knightley's new film, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. The former shelter dog portrays the role of "Sorry," the scrappy companion of Steve Carell's character.

It seems the devious dog had an agenda when he charmed the star-studded cast: more time in front of the camera.

"He had an amazing ability to find the camera," Knightley told People. "Even if he wasn't meant to be in a shot, you'd suddenly find him. It'd be my close-up and suddenly the dog would be right there licking my face."

In the end, despite Aleister's diva tendencies, the cast raved about how much fun he was to have on set. Said Knightley: "He's a star, obviously."

And when Keira Knightley steps aside and declares that you're a star, you definitely had the best week in Hollywood.

Corgi Rae Jepsen Takes On "Call Me Maybe"

We won't deny it: We're all about the "Call Me Maybe" craze. Last week we brought you "Adopt Me Maybe," a shelter pet adaptation of the pop single. Now there's a dog version of the song that stays true to the original music video.

In this great clip from The Pet Collective YouTube channel, an adorable Corgi takes on Carly Rae Jepsen's role of admiring her crush from afar. But just like the original, things don't turn out quite as she had planned...

Help All Animals: Live by the Law of the Paw

Our pets are so good to us, and a new initiative by the American Humane Society is asking pet owners to take that love and devotion and return it to their pets.

The initiative, called "Law of the Paw," asks pet owners to pledge to do three simple things. First, adopt -- adopting from a rescue or shelter reduces euthanasia rates. Second, spay and neuter to prevent unwanted litters of puppies and kittens. And third, make sure your pet wears a current ID, so if he ever gets lost, he won't end up in a shelter.

The centerpiece of the program is a short film developed by creative agency Carmichael Lynch. It follows the journey of a stray dog named Magpie, who makes her way from the scary and cruel streets to a caring shelter and, finally (spoiler alert!) to a loving home, all from the dog's point of view.
