WINNSBORO, SC (WIS) - Sean Bech and his family are devastated after their dogs, who went missing Thursday morning, turned up dead and mutilated that afternoon.
"I can't explain it," said Bech. "I don't understand it."
A homebuilder found the dogs splayed out on the railroad tracks behind Bech's home.
"They laid them on the track so the train would hit them so we wouldn't find they had been shot," said Bech.
Two of Bech's family dogs, Jayjay and Coco, were found dismembered.
"People lose animals all the time through old age and accidents this was a deliberate act," said Bech. "I'm angry."
Bech says it was out of character for either pup to go near the tracks.
"Anytime a train would come they would run," said Bech. "They didn't like loud noises."
Investigators say it's not uncommon to find dogs shot and killed and laid on the tracks during hunting season. It's certainly something Bech has heard of before, but he never thought his dogs would end up dead on the tracks.
"I'll get past the anger, but I won't get past the heartbreak," said Bech. "It's hard to explain to your children why human nature can be so nasty."
Bech doesn't know for sure who killed his family's dogs, but wants whoever is responsible to do the right thing.
"If you hear about it please, please say something," said Bech. "That's all I need -- a little break."
