Help My Dog Wont Obey Without Treats

Obedience is an essential component of the dog-owner relationship.  And food training is a good way to teach your pet commands such as sit and lie down.  But what happens when the treats run out?  Will your pup still obey?

According to pet reporter Yvette Van Veen, it's relatively simple to wean your pet off doggy treats.  You just need to follow these simple strategies:
Make sure your pet truly understands the verbal commands and is not simply responding to your gestures and body language.Don't keep rewards on your person.  If a dog smells the treats, he knows one is on the horizon.Feed treats in an unpredictable manner.  Don't give your pooch a food reward every time he performs a command (start by gradually skipping treats).Use other rewards, such as praise and play.
